ZeptoMed is developing a catheter system to treat patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes who are diagnosed, treated with medications but either their blood pressure or blood sugar level cannot be controlled. Their major risk factors include stroke, coronary heart diseases, heart failure, nerve damage, blindness, kidney failure and death. Abnormally high sympathetic activities between the brain, kidney, and liver are the main culprits exacerbating hypertension and type 2 diabetes. The ZeptoMed catheter system blocks and reduces sympathetic over-activity safer, faster, and more efficiently than currently available therapies for both uncontrolled hypertension and type 2 diabetes.
